The all-time winner’s list at Bowman Gray Stadium is chock full of some of the most legendary names in NASCAR Racing. Last names such as Petty, Allison, Pearson and Johnson all won features at the quarter-mile bullring that has seen NASCAR racing since the 1950’s.

On Saturday, May 12, Bobby Measmer Jr. added his name to the record books as a Modified winner at the “Madhouse.”

Measmer earned the victory in the night’s second 25-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified division feature. After finishing second in first feature, an invert of 10 from the finishing results had him starting ninth in the second race. He patiently worked his way through the field and took the lead with 15 laps remaining. Lap after lap clicked off from there and the No. 14 Modified left the field in its rear-view mirror for the victory.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet, but this is awesome,” Measmer said in victory lane. “This place is a piece of history and to put my name in the record books is awesome.”

The Hughes Motorsports team will be back at Bowman Gray with eyes on chasing a second victory on Saturday May 19th with twin 25-lap features on the schedule.
